The Dividend per Share Growth measures the year on year growth of dividend payments by the company. It is calculated as the year on year change in Dividends per Share. This is measured on a trailing twelve month basis.
Dividend growth is a good indicator of the financial health of a company.
Companies that are able to sustain and grow dividend payments over time are considered likely to be financially stable.
That said, some companies do not pay stock dividends at all; rather they use these excess profits to reinvest money back into the company to fund business growth.
An absence of dividends it therefore not necessarily a bad thing! This is measured on a TTM basis.
