About Us
WHO WE ARE
Blessings in a Bag is an organisation: a Singapore, not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation (under ‘MIGHTY TO SAVE LLP’/Registration No:T09LL1231C) that seeks to partner with existing communities, orphanages, schools, homes as well as initiatives to provide for the needs of underprivileged, abused and medically-ill children across Asia. We seek to work alongside individuals and community members who are involved in the lives of these children as well as encouraging society, especially youths, to know that they can make a difference, one child at a time.
Blessings in a Bag collects new and used items that are in good condition and directs* them to various destinations across Asia.
Blessings in a Bag aims to build eco-friendly homes. Find out more here.

OUR VALUES
Asia - We focus on all countries, provinces, towns, cities and villages across the Asia region.
Childhood - We believe that each and every child deserves the right to have a childhood through the following (illustrated by Maslow’s Heirachy of Basic Needs):
- Physiological (Every child has the right to their basic needs - food, water and shelter)
- Safety (Every child has the right to feel safe and be kept from danger)
- Love/belonging (Every child has the right to be loved and be able to love in return)
- Self Esteem (Every child has the right to be nurtured, allowing their individuality and confidence to grow)
- Actualization (Every child has the right to realise their own potential in the World)
Eco-Friendly - We aim to practice in an eco-friendly manner (as much as we’re able to do so!) through our Blessings in a Bag movement and through our design and building of the eco-friendly children’s homes. Blessings in a Bag promotes recycling through the collection of used items that would otherwise end up in landfills.
Relationship - We believe in combining our efforts together as a team with our beneficiaries to foster a sense of community ownership. The community will be expected to be heavily involved through the provision of space, labor and/or materials.
Sustainability - We provide help to the orphanages/villages/homes in the hope that they can gradually support themselves.
BRIEF HISTORY
Founder of Blessings in a Bag, Emily Teng, launched the project in 2007 after a life-long desire to take action and make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. She is currently completing her undergraduate studies and working for Mediacorp’s 987fm as a DJ.
Driven by her passion, Emily has set up a movement with the simple act of giving taking centre-stage. Blessings in a Bag seeks monetary donations to help in the funding of shipments, the purchase of items needed most by the children as well as to fund upcoming projects such as building eco-friendly children’s homes and villages.
Though monetary donations are needed, Emily hopes that more people give gifts-in-kind in order to help mother earth by decreasing the amount of goods ending up in landfills round the world. It is through this movement that individuals are encouraged to partake in an act that costs nothing and yet means the world to a child living life in a developing community.
