The New Year
Happy New Year to you all! We hope you’ve had an awesome time celebrating the end of 2008 and entering into 2009. Most of my team and I were away over the December month - Arbella (Street Blessings/Volunteer Coordinator) and myself were actually in Oklahoma City in the United States attending our own college graduation at Oklahoma City University. We apologise if you tried to contact us during this period of time as we were overseas. But the team’s back and ready to get into the full-swing of things!
We’re planning to get a ‘live’ counter happening on the website somewhere so you can track how many items have been donated. We’ve been so busy over the last year and we were only able to record two of our shipments as things have been so hectic so we’re going by the numbers we have recorded for the shipments and items that were donated via the Blessings in a Bag movement. See below for the numbers!
If you’d like to take part in the Blessings in a Bag movement, please get in touch with us! We’re really needing travelers going to Cambodia, Thailand or the Philippines. We’re hoping to get more accessible drop off points to make things easier for you so please bear with us as we continue to improve things!
Number of things donated:
109 Bottoms (this includes jeans, shorts, pants, etc)
466 Tops (this includes t-shirts, blouses, etc)
19 Dresses/Skirts
6 Jumpers/Sweaters
4 Bedsheets
4 Pillowcases
28 Baby Jumpsuits
15 Swimwear
16 Towels
4 Bags
3 Blankets

20 Educational Books
10 Story Books
52 Activity Books

We hope to be able to donate TONNES more this year and we definitely will! Please do keep on donating your items to us whether they be new or second hand. Do note that we only collect items for children and teenagers. You can drop off your donations anytime between 11am and 8pm at 10 Jalan Serene, Serene Centre, Unit #02-06. It’s in a store called COMICS MART.
Thanks so much for your continued support and for all your encouragement! Here’s to a fantastic 2009 full of greater opportunities to give to those who need it most!
Love and Peace always,
Emily Teng
P.S Here’s some images of us sorting out donations every weekend! Thanks to all the volunteers who give up their time and Sunday afternoons to help your contributions reach our beneficiaries!
